Minster

With its king size, French bed and open fireplace, Minster is the most romantic room in the house and is a favourite for brides to be. Located on the grand first floor, or ‘piano nobile’ as the Georgians would have called it, Minster was originally used as a formal drawing room. The incredibly rare panelling, which lines every wall, is one of the reasons why the house is now Grade II* listed. Minster’s south facing aspect, with its three, large sash windows, mean that this elegant room, which is decorated solely with antiques, is also bright and sunny. When the sun goes down, the room’s beautiful chandelier brings an added sparkle to the room. Minster has its own, sumptuous bathroom, located just across the hallway, and this contains a fireplace, roll top bath with shower, separate walk-in shower and a heated towel rail. The characterful servants’ stairs lead up from the dining room to both Minster and its bathroom providing a secondary, ‘secret’ access to this suite of rooms.
